For reasons not necessarily worth bringing up here, I’ve spent much of the past few post-HORIZON weeks laid up & shut-in, which would have been driven me much crazier than it has were it not for the fortuitous timing of the release of Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
Like basically everyone else I know, the past few weeks I’ve been living dual lives in both the real world and in The Village, and, as time has worn on, those two realities have started to happily merge, as a bunch of friendly artists & game fans have brought our favorite bits of the former into the latter.
Above, via Media Center blogger Michael Pang, you’ll find the keys to unlock your very own in-game version of Keita Takahashi’s Videogame Romantics shirt, and below the fold, you can find a number of other amazing submissions from indie game & comic culture to make your Village life feel a little bit more like home.
In addition to a slew of goods related to their own game, Bastion creators Supergiant are offering this commemorative print of the Humble Indie Bundle V, aka That One You Definitely Got because it included Bastion, Limbo, Amnesia, Psychonauts and Sworcery, featuring the characters of all of the above assembled together by illustrator and Supergiant art director Jen Zee.
For those that may not have been tuned in, one blessed weekend this past June the art/game/music communities joined together in celebration of Superbrothers/Jim Guthrie/Capy’s #sworcery with an all-out remix & original illustration fest.
If you’re as thrilled by the return of the cassette as ward against an all-digital future as I am (see also: Deerhoof’s latest Breakup Songs, also available as a bound & turntable-ready booklet of flexi-discs [!]), you’ll want to know that this is your absolute very last chance to pick up Jim ‘jampants’ Guthrie’s Sword & Sworcery EP on said medium, having found one last stray box. Preview the album here, if you still need convincing.
Meanwhile, to celebrate the opening of this very website, #sworcery collaborator Scntfc has made
Moon Grotto Station Four Zero Eight, a digital-only bonus track previously only available with the purchase of the Moon Grotto EP itself, free for everyone to download. Reports that the track might lead you down any sort of rabbit-hole are unsubstantiated and hardly worth mentioning. [via @jampants, @scntfc]
