More Friday art fun: I’ve previously mentioned Mitch ‘Spacesick‘ Ansara for his (still unfinished!) work on a “It’s a Dig, Dig, Dig, Dig Dug” motion graphics sequence (and his widely-blogged I Can Read Movies series), and now he’s just put together this fantastic intro for a Spacesick NES game we hope some day actually gets made (little help, SnowBro/No Carrier?).

Ansara’s apparently had NES on the brain lately: see also his recent 8-bit Wildlife Council ads.

HAVE YOUR ONE MORE GO: MAJORA’S MASK ADDED TO EUROPEAN VIRTUAL CONSOLE

With their hand seemingly forced by One More Go’s recent ode to the Zelda game too few have played, Nintendo have updated their European Virtual Console lineup with the surprise addition of the Nintendo 64’s time-travelling sequel Majora’s Mask.

Much of the subsequent discussion around the column was centered on finding a way to play through the game, so hopefully this is a signal that it’ll be coming stateside in the next few weeks as well.

I’m not sure how many in the games sphere have been paying attention to Coudal Partners’ game of Layer Tennis, so if you’re not familiar, the gist is that two competitors (read: designers) volley a single file (read: PhotoShop doc) back and forth every 15 minutes, adding, subtracting, and generally modifying each other’s work.

Why you should care: this week’s competition is between Made In England’s Cookie (Simon Cook, fresh back from his cross country trip walking from Mexico to Canada) versus friend of Offworld and LittleBigPlanet/Grip Wrench artist Rex Crowle.

Check out their setup in the MIEngland offices here, watch the progress of the match here (use the intro/numbers underneath the header to navigate), and listen in on the audience chatter here via the #lyt twitter feed.

Proof positive you can never predict where the next meme will spring from: collected via “There Will Be No Animated Gifs In This Blog”, an apparent glitch in Nintendo 64 classic Goldeneye that causes in game characters to just plain freak out when you so little as tilt the cart has spawned a new video craze on Japanese viral video site Nico Nico Douga.

Below, my favorite:

TAG MII: WIISPRAY VIRTUAL GRAFFITTI, STENCILS IN MOTION

You may recall reading about the WiiSpray virtual graffitti project about a year ago — when all designer Martin Lihs had to show was his prototype WiiMote spray can — but now he’s created this teaser video showing the project in motion, with virtual stencils and all.

Adds Lihs: “Remember – this is only Nintendo Wii technics and Flash!”

Someone please bring this to the next GDC so we can all have a go.

VISIBLE SACK: SEE INSIDE JASON FREENY’S ANATOMICALLY CORRECT SACKBOY

After working similar magic on the Qee, the Dunny, and the Lego mini-fig, Jason ‘moistproductions‘ Freeny has been commissioned by the just-debuted UK edition of Wired magazine to take us inside the curious anatomy of LittleBigPlanet‘s iconic Sackboy.

The results are half magical, half vaguely disturbing, and just a teeny, tiny, wee bit luridly anatomically correct (which Wired was, of course, far too proper to let slip into their pages).

Happily, he’s also created an iPhone wallpaper of the image as well, for your downloading pleasure.

Just coming down from the production of their forthcoming IGF-nominated first person brawler Zeno Clash, ACE Team has used April 1st to announce that, in the future, “we will not continue to develop such ambitious projects. Instead we will focus in smaller titles with shorter development cycles.”

Their new direction? Point and click adventures, with the first — The Malstrums Mansion — now available to play via the ACE Team website, complete with maddening anti-piracy measures.

Spore creators Maxis have used April 1st to announce Dungeons of Spore, a new ASCII-enhanced rogue-like coming in March of 2011 and promising “procedurally generated levels, thrilling turn-based gameplay, and NPCs straight from MPN.”

A trial version available on their site: I spent far more time than I’d like to admit running around and hugging various creatures.

WATERMELONS BEWARE: HUDSON’S SHOOTING WATCH COMES TO THE IPHONE

I’ve mentioned Hudson’s Shooting Watch — the recently re-issued digital ‘trainer’ meant to help strengthen your game controller button-tapping muscles up to par with the hummingbird-fingered Takahashi Meijin — a few times before, and now the company has made it a good deal more affordable to own its little slice of Japan’s gaming history.

Coming just a few weeks after the release of an unofficial app that does much the same thing, Hudson has just released Shot Watch [iTunes link], an iPhone app that reproduces all of the functionality of the physical watch, and adds a few more ‘trix’ up its sleeve.

Like the traditional watch, your ultimate goal is to beat the mythical “16 button presses per second” of the master Takahashi, but now with a web ranking mode, you can see just how pathetic your attempts really are (I’m currently at 39 with a paltry 7.8). Check the official website for more information on its secret modes: I wouldn’t dare spoil the revealing sudoku puzzle that awaits you there.

Let us know your top rank once you’ve outpaced me!
