ONE SHOT: ON THE NEAR-IMPOSSIBILITY OF RATING SCRIBBLENAUTS
How do you warn parents about what children may or may not be able to do in a game where they can do near anything? You try and cover all your bases at once, from attaching steak to babies to attract lions, or jumping bicycles over babies (what unhealthy obsession ESRB has with baby violence I don’t know), to, simply, summing ‘vomit‘. LITTLEBIGWATCH: VENKMAN & STANTZ & SPENGLER & ZEDDEMORE.
Meet your next entries in LittleBigPlanet‘s Ghostbusters DLC, as revealed by Media Molecule.
Unfortunately, they’ve been beat to the punch by their own game (so to speak), as Sony’s Japanese game site also prematurely conjures the rest of the costume and sticker pack, which will also include, as you can see, Sack-Puft, and Sack-Slimer, but I’m happiest to learn that the original promo image wasn’t just that: the ‘No Ghosts’ costume will include the actual not-sign (is there a real word for that) itself. YOU CAN ‘POUNCE AWAY: DOWNLOAD ANNA ANTHROPY/SAELEE OH’S ARTXGAME OCTOPOUNCE
Following what I can only imagine must have been a really disappointing discussion — one that apparently saw a licensing deal fall through for the four artXgames featured at Giant Robot’s Game Over/Continue show — the process begins of getting them out into the public for free.
First up: Saelee Oh and Anna Anthropy’s PC game Octopounce, just released via Anthropy’s site, and probably the most successful game of the four for a social, slightly drunken, multiplayer event.
Anna adds on that note, though:
The game was designed for big social events with lots of people: if you play by yourself it’ll probably be boring. The way we ran the game was to hook four game pads up to it (I put a sticker on each one of the color of octopus it controlled).

LCD GAMESYSTEM: NINTENDO BRINGING GAME&WATCH GAMES TO DSIWARE
Just in time to make you wonder why you racked up and spent all those precious Club Nintendo points on the DS’s Game & Watch Collection, Nintendo of Japan have just announced a new plan to extend its DSiWare downloadable service to include a series of nine revived Game & Watch LCD titles, at 200 Points (~$2) a pop.
First up is Ball, Vermin, Flagman, and Judge on July 15th, followed by Helmet and Chef on the 29th, and then Donkey Kong Jr., Mario’s Cement Factory and Manhole in early August.
Like their Electroplankton re-release, there’s currently no word on stateside release, but Nintendo’s been doing an ace job thus far of spreading the best of the service around evenly. [via andriasang]

MASTER-PIECE: TURN YOUR HALO 3 SCREENSHOTS TO FINE ART
The last thing you expected to come from the Halo universe: haloscreenshots, a new partnership between Bungie and fine arts printer Global Arts Group that turns your Halo 3 screenshots (which can be captured and uploaded on-console) into “unframed paper prints or gallery quality stretched canvases.”
Above is one of my favorites from the HSS:BOB collection, and while I sort of flatly believe that it’s impossible to have not been jimmied with in some post-proc way, I will take them at their word, because it’s a striking image regardless (though a little more Optimus than MJOLNIR, no?).
My favorite feature of the site, though? The scale to Master Chief function:

GIMME INDIE… SLICK, SOMETHING: ENVIRO-BEAR 2010 RELEASED FOR IPHONE
The day’s best indie surprise: Crackerblocks’ former Gimme Indie Game featured ‘cockpit’ game, Enviro-Bear 2000: Operation: Hibernation, has officially just now landed on the iPhone as Enviro-Bear 2010 [App Store] at a 99¢ pricepoint.
It comes recommended not only because creator Justin Smith quoted Offworld in his App Store product description, but because it’s actually a fair bit more playable on the device compared to its PC counterpart, with your car-control bits only a fingertip away, rather than a wildly flailing mouse-swipe away.
Case in point: out of the countless calamitous times I played the PC original, my first session on the iPhone was honestly the first time I’d reached level two. Bone up on the details of the game in its first writeup, then visit Smith’s page for more information on the new mobile version.

ONE SHOT, DARKSTALKING, WITH PAUL ROBERTSON
‘Pirate Baby’s Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006’ and ‘Kings of Power 4 Billion %’ animator and Scribblenauts contributor Paul Robertson shows off his contribution to Udon’s art book tribute to Capcom’s classic supernatural fighter Darkstalkers. I always feel like a chump stretching and squishing his pixels, so be sure to view it at its native res for maximum impact.

OH, MOTHER: FANGAMER RELEASE PDF, WEB-BROWSABLE VERSIONS OF EARTHBOUND 3 GUIDEBOOK
For the (hopefully) few of you that haven’t taken the leap for the physical version itself: fashion/culture/merch shop Fangamer, in a move making them the new Andersons of the game world, have made the entirety of their entirely fan-written/illustrated guidebook to unofficially localized GBA RPG Mother 3 browsable online.
As I mentioned back in March it’s both a gorgeously designed tribute to The Game Nintendo Won’t Let Us Have, and indispensable as a guidebook should be. The free version is actually fairly legible, save for some of the charts in the index: for the rest of you that need those yet still want to keep this transaction paper free, Fangamer’s also just released this hi-res $6 PDF version.
But really, there are few even professionally produced guidebooks on the market these days that warrant flipping through when you’re not absolutely in need of it: the Mother guide is an exception to that and probably needs to be held in the hand to be best appreciated.

ABANDON ALL WARE: BETHESDA RELEASE ELDER SCROLLS II AS FREE DOWNLOAD
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the franchise, Bethesda is offering The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall as a free download, the first game in the series that would set the first-person/open-world tone later popularized by Morrowind and Oblivion.
They’ve made no attempt to update the game for Vista/XP compatibility, which is actually for the best: the game requires DOSBox, which now runs on a variety of platforms. Skip (or at least only lightly refer to) the frightfully technical installation guide (pdf) they’ve included: frontends like D-Fend on the PC, and Boxer for the Mac are going to be your best friends here.
