Apparently not content with just bringing you what continues to be the internet’s most original games-related podcast (with the latest of its fantastic This American Life-inspired episodes having just been released), A Life Well Wasted series creator Robert Ashley has all-star tag-teamed up with oft-mentioned designer Olly Moss to create limited edition Giclée prints for each of the four episodes, and it’s basically impossible to pick just one (particularly after you’ve just bought Moss’s similarly phenomenal official poster for TV series Lost).

CAN’T SAY NO TO EDGE: OLLY MOSS RETURNS WITH FOUR NEW RETRO-INSPIRED GAME/BOOK COVERS

Officially, Olly Moss was off the case on his original series of retro-book covers that helped kick off the long-running design craze, but, like a reluctant Solid Snake, he was called back into action and created these four for an upcoming Edge magazine article on evergreen games.

Says Moss: “You can’t say no to Edge.”

The instant winner of the four: his cover for Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty 4, which, in the context of the game (the plus-sign numbers counting toward your multiplayer kill-score) is much more grim than it would first appear.

Before designer Olly Moss made a name for himself around these parts for his retro Penguin Classics inspired videogame cover art series, one of his most viral designs was this ‘Shoot the Baddies’ print, featuring a series of shooting range cutouts of enemies so iconic that I probably shouldn’t even have to name them.

After bringing the design in wearable form to Threadless, Moss has just mentioned that it’s now available as a hangable print from design shop inPRNT, in three sizes and alongside two excellent other designs. Head there for pricing and availability details.

Olly Moss’s countdown continues with his latest redesigned cover, this time a visual pun that says “Niko Bellic tries to live the American dream and gets dragged into a world of crime.”

Olly Moss soars through number five of his 9-game “Classics” cover art series, this time with the horrible, gnawing dread of radio static in Silent Hill. This leaves four, and then (did I miss this before?) a “big screen print” of all nine (yeah!).

As long as he keeps making them, I’ll keep posting them: the latest in Olly Moss’s Videogame Classics mines Solid Snake by way of Saul Bass, adding a sly visual wink that crosses Snake’s nasty (but practical) habit with the franchise’s exclamatory trademark.

That’s four down and five to go — I’m really going to be gutted to see the series end.

The latest in Olly Moss’s Penguin-inspired Videogame Classics series distills Freeman’s essence, rightly, as a game about “crowbars and teleporting.” My favorite part (having briefly moved away from the N64 now) is the top-left iconography showing the platform where the game originated.

One of my most heartfelt 2009 wishes: that Moss continue this as a regularly updated set.

Like AtomicToy’s Dude-A-Day project, I happened across designer Olly Moss’s fantastic Swiss-inspired movie posters last week and wondered what he might come up with in the games realm, and now I see I didn’t have to wonder long.

Taking a cue from classic Penguin book covers, I’d like to think Moss’s newly created ‘Triforce on the brain’ Zelda cover and his ‘projectile dysfunction’ Goldeneye design would have brought a happy twinkle to Germano Facetti‘s eye.
