ONE SHOT: CALL OF DUTY 4, THE PARADIGM EDITION
And the second of DJ Malloc’s Criterion-inspired Paradigm collection, an alternate wolves-of-the-battlefield (or are they war pigs?) take on Call of Duty 4. See also, especially: Diablo, and The Longest Journey.

ONE SHOT: BIOSHOCK, THE PARADIGM EDITION
Continuing the ongoing Criterion-inspired love affair with good game cover design, ‘DJ Malloc’ presents a series of ‘Paradigm’ covers, including this BioShock piece that rightly puts the focus on the true stars of the game.

ONE SHOT: STREETPONG, THE SECOND
And more Pong taken to the streets, part of Patrick Runte‘s photo series of physical arcade games, which, please don’t miss his Pac-Man, Space Invaders and pinball, as well. [via GSW]

ONE SHOT: STREETPONG, THE FIRST
A gorgeous night shot by one of indie gaming’s leading renaissance men, Vincent Diamante (also: thatgamecompany’s Cloud and Flower composer), used to illustrate Chris Dahlen’s similarly wonderful Edge piece on Diamante’s own Mobile Gamer 1: a street-ready version of Pong that you play by physically rolling the cabinet on its casters.

ONE SHOT: A MUSHROOM KINGDOM HIT AND RUN
Speed kills, red Koopa shells kill with impunity: a Threadless T-shirt (available in very low stock) by Brock Davis, whose work I’d coincidentally just found via this fantastic glow-in-the-dark gag shirt a few days before.

ONE SHOT: 9 0 0 0, THE MOTIVATIONAL NINJA EDITION
The latest in resident favorite artist 9 0 0 0’s rustic pixels, with a meditation on goal-reaching from Ninja Gaiden‘s Ryu Hayabusa. 9 0 0 0’s alluded to his main flickr gallery being cut short in the near future, though a donated Pro account may have delayed that decision: either way, it may be time to privately archive your favorite of his Plan 9.002 updates, though stealing them to sell low-res prints on eBay is obviously strongly discouraged.

ONE SHOT: PAC-MAN’S YESTERYEAR THEME PARK
This picture (and its accompanying YouTube slideshow) is making heavy rotation via technabob, my guess is because we’re all still nostalgic for this time where a theme park license didn’t mean some whiz-bang video-ride production, and was instead just a place to clambor and a games fantasy come to life. I know for a fact that six-year-old-me (as is glaringly obvious from the photo) would have been all over this.

ONE SHOT: SAMUS ON A SPECTRUM
Metroid star Samus, done up by artist ‘Diver’ in ZX Spectrum impressionism, via PixelStyle, presumably taken from this Soviet Spectrum gallery.

ONE SHOT: THE PITT, INFECTED
Even before the upcoming episode-linking Crash Course DLC was announced, Left 4 Dead fanatics were hard at work piecing together the game’s deeper underlying story we were all too frantically struggling to survive to notice.
Unearthed: the game’s location (Pennsylvania, notably No Mercy’s Philadelphia and Dead Air’s Pittsburgh, making it the second Wasteland of a city that year), the map that draws a solid line between each episode (above), and screenshots and dialogue of the half-infected news-chopper pilot who we presumably will see more of in Crash Course proper. ONE SHOT: GLEN BROGAN’S ARCADE PIN-UP
Glen ‘albino raven‘ Brogan’s retro-pin-up, really honestly probably the last featured submission for Phillie’s Autumn Society 8-bit & Beyond show, which — last warning! — opens tonight at Brave New Worlds‘ 45 N 2nd St. location, from 6-10pm.
