What’s big and small at the same time?* Matthew ‘servotron‘ Ellison’s custom Shadow of the Colossus Munny, complete with itty-bitty Wander (who you can see in better detail via his original SpriteStitch post). [via Fidgit]

The latest games-vinyl toy crossover from Albert Art: this custom Ness Munny, star of the oft-blogged cult hit Earthbound, complete with to-scale backpack and cap. It’s the fourth games custom Art’s done recently, following his similarly nice work on Bomberman and Turbo-Grafx 16 underdog Bonk.

THE MUNNY SHOT: EARTHWORM JIM EDITION

Recently spotted in vinyl toy maker Kid Robot’s preview of upcoming additions to its gallery, a custom version of its signature Munny figure reworked in the image of Earthworm Jim. The custom was done, as eagle eyes will have spotted, by Andrew ‘Creatures In My Head‘ Bell, who you may also recognize from his Dot Overdose t-shirt which debuted at this year’s ComicCon.

It’s a very nicely done custom, though I am curious how he does his trademark head-whip from inside the helmet.

ONE FOR THE LEGIONS: KOW YOKOYAMA’S MODEL GALAGA

I haven’t worked the toy beat as hard as I did back in the day, but I may have to pick up the mantle again if I’m missing out on stuff like this newly revealed model Galaga ship, awesomely sculpted by Maschinen Krieger creator Kow Yokoyama, and due out in March (Hobby Link Japan seems to have the best price if you’d like to pick it up for yourself).

If nothing else, it’s a reminder that I never really did think to extrapolate the sprite into 3D, nor, for that matter, has Namco in any overt way, which then leads me down the rabbit-hole of remembering how they axed the above experiments to bring Xevious back to life in the Ace Combat engine, and it’s all blackness from there. Illustrator Gonzalo ‘GENZOMAN‘ Ordóñez Arias (who’s also behind these official World of Warcraft card game illos) probably answers some un-asked hypothetical about how The West might handle the Zelda franchise, etc. etc. but more appropriately simply shows us the most invulnerable Link of all time. RETURN OF THE WORM: INTERPLAY, GAMELOFT REVIVING EARTHWORM JIM FOR XBLA, PSN, WIIWARE

IP holders Interplay have just sent over news of a new partnership with mobile game giant Gameloft to revive Shiny Entertainment’s 16-bit cult classic Earthworm Jim as a cross-platform downloadable by the end of this year.

Details are still slim on what form the remake will take, but the companies say the game will debut exclusively on Xbox Live Arcade for one month, followed by ports to PlayStation Network, WiiWare, and mobile phones, the iPhone presumably included.

The deal is separate from Sega’s own ongoing campaign to let players vote which 16-bit Genesis classic they’d like to see hit Xbox Live Arcade (though the poll, which was meant to run through the 21st, appears to be down at the moment), but shouldn’t be an issue either way, because the answer there is quite obviously a network-playable version of Toejam and Earl, if you have even like a half a lick of sense.

From the same custom creator as the previously mentioned Dig Dug Dunnys and timed perfectly with yesterday’s perfect musical drug: Reactor88’s fantastic set of Dr. Mario viruses.

In other games-related custom news, toycutter has spotted new work by ruben1553 (he of the excellent actually-frozen Frozen Caveman that made the rounds last year), including more than a handful of BioShock, Zelda, Starfox and Castle Crashers Munnys that make up for in inspired character choices what they might lack in subtle brushwork.
