I’ve honestly never been able to get my head fully around the inner-workings of on-demand toy manufacturer Patch Together, but what I’m pretty sure of is that with enough “likes”, Robb Waters’ official Sander Cohen figure (easily the most unforgettable character in 2K’s original BioShock) could be put up for sale in limited numbers.

That, or the site’s simply showing a gallery of the limited run 2K Boston head Ken Levine had created as gifts for studio staff in early August.

As I try to work this all out, just know 2K/Patch: I would very much like one of these on my desk.

PAX: BIOSHOCK 2’S MULTIPLAYER DEATHMATCH IN MOTION

When BioShock 2‘s multiplayer segment — a separate narrative that explores the fall of underwater u-/dys-topia Rapture via test subject trials for plasmid manufacturer Sinclair — was first announced, I noted that I was glad co-developer Digital Extremes wasn’t simply giving us Big Daddy Arena.

Then, watching this first video footage (prepared for the Penny Arcade Expo) of its online deathmatch exploits, right about 1:45 when the hollow whale-moan struck, I went 100% full reverse on that sentiment.

Only one question remains: exactly what manner of soul-stealing devilry is she performing with that camera at 1:26?

Continuing the ongoing Criterion-inspired love affair with good game cover design, ‘DJ Malloc’ presents a series of ‘Paradigm’ covers, including this BioShock piece that rightly puts the focus on the true stars of the game.

More concept art retrospectives from BioShock 2 devs 2K, looking at the development of the sequel’s original Big Daddy — the model that all future Daddy’s (ie. the ones you fought in the first game) would be based on.

While I appreciate the less-monstrous utilitarian simplicity of the near-final version at bottom (doubly fitting since you yourself will be playing as this Daddy), I can’t get over that wicked titular aching slump of the first version at top left.

KINDLY CUSTOMIZED: JOE OF WAR’S ANDREW RYAN BIOSHOCK FIGURE

Probably the most unlikely custom toy I’ve run across in recent weeks, in which “joe of war” takes Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Jiles, and morphs him confidently into BioShock antagonist Andrew Ryan, who clearly always packs heat for his putter practice. [via toycutter]

Just added to Take Two’s web store, a ‘very limited’ 3 inch porcelain version of BioShock‘s Little Sister that was quite obviously always meant to go alongside the Xbox 360’s special edition Big Daddy figure. And it comes at a very respectable ten dollars, which is about loads less than I’ve paid for a number of the vinyl figs scattered around the room.

While I was sniffing about, I also got quite taken with this ultra-dapper Incinerate T-shirt — the store’s also added some other sharp BioShock finery.
