WILD RUMPUS & VENUS PATROL PARTY TO DEBUT NEW GAME FROM BEE & PUPPYCAT CREATOR
With just days to go before the shindig itself, the team at Wild Rumpus & I have just announced the final lineup of our third-annual party taking place alongside this year’s Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, and we’re all quite excited to note that this year we’ll be debuting a new game created with Natasha Allegri, creator of the upcoming cartoon series Bee & Puppycat.
The game — which we’re referring to as Musclecat Showdown for now — is co-created by Major Bueno, the indies behind Party Bueno and a whole host of other games created each month throughout 2013, and should be just about the best drunken fun you can have with surly, muscular cats.
Elsewhere, we’re extremely excited to have romantic beat magician and Nidhogg composer Daedelus joining a musical lineup that will include returning favorite Baiyon, Bubsy3d.com & Perfect Stride creators Arcane Kids, a new mix from Christoffer Hedborg, creator of Eleven, under his new moniker TRU LUV, and, of course, the unique stylings of DJ Phillipe Lemarchand.
The games lineup will also include a new 2-player version of Kyle Reimergartin’s FJORDS, the multiplayer dance mat version of Keita Takahashi & Adam Saltsman’s A͈L͈P͈H͈A͈B͈E͈T͈, and the stateside debut of Push Me Pull You (above), a new sports-game that exists somewhere in between Hokra and Noby Noby Boy — aka directly in my ever loving heart — and a lot, lot, lot more.
You can peruse the full lineup of all the games and music over at the That Venus Patrol And Wild Rumpus Party website, and we hope to see you out next Wednesday night!

LISTEN: 70 NEW MINUTES OF PIXELJUNK’S BAIYON
As PixelJunk Eden & PixelJunk 4AM designer & DJ extraordinaire Baiyon galavants around Mexico following a recent performance which also featured Silent Hill musician Akira Yamaoka & Fez composer Disasterpeace (!), here’s a new hour-long mix of his, just released by London’s Greyhound, and featured here mostly because it’s super excellent and has been in heavy rotation for the better part of a few days now.
If you like what you hear here, a subtle reminder that there’s 90 more minutes where that came from by becoming a member of this here site at both the monthly & yearly levels, which also includes some bonus Sword & Sworcery EP beats. This podcast is also available for download directly from Greyhound, and keep an eye on Baiyon’s own site for much more mixes & original releases.
LISTEN: PIXELJUNK EDEN CREATOR BAIYON, IN THE HOUSE
This clip just about has it all: PixelJunk Eden‘s audio/visual director Baiyon spinning his trademark blend of house/trance at Kyoto’s Club Metro, to an adoring crowd of frame-dropped and light-smeared kids & adorable mod-striped short-haired girls, while wearing — best of all — the T-shirt he received for speaking at this year’s Game Developer’s Conference. SEE Q-GAMES’ PIXELJUNK EDEN ENCORE EXPANSION IN MOTION
Q-games has finally let loose the trailer the studio showed at GDC for its upcoming expansion of Offworld 20 favorite PS3 downloadable Pixeljunk Eden, after detailing the included additions to the game.
Those additions? Along side the new Baiyon music for each level, Q-games has implemented a new “three-seed smart-bomb” powerup where every “prowler” on the screen will explode into pollen after jumping into three seeds in a row — which will also now work in the original game itself.
The expansion will also add a “zero-G” item that will let you float through the level for a limited time, with appropriately designed puzzles in that particular garden, plus a new “mirror” garden with portals in and out of its double, with subtle changes in between
And finally, Q-games is teasing at a new easter egg for the end of the expansion that “will enable you to play the entire game again in a completely different way.”
The expansion will be available with this Thursday’s regular PlayStation Network update.

PIXELJUNK EDEN GETTING A WELL-DESERVED ENCORE
Q-Games head Dylan Cuthbert has blogged to Sony’s official PlayStation outlet to note that their previously promised patch for Offworld 20 highlight PixelJunk Eden will be available tomorrow, adding a new multiplayer camera and a still undetailed “new control system.”
Even better, Cuthbert says an “Encore” version of the game is in development, offering only a teaser that the new expansion will add “crazy stuff,” though the notion of new Baiyon tracks (note that the Eden musician/designer has just released a new EP, Tachikanae) is more than enticement enough.
