There’s only one available to buy over at Etsy, but have no fear; Asia’s also selling the pattern for the lovable 4ft-long scamp – so if you fancy a BOY of your own, there’s never been a better time to take up crochet. Or, alternatively, make friends with someone who can already crochet.

Another culinary update from Keita Takahashi and his Noby Noby Boy over at the game’s official site, this time a super-stretched Noby GIRL cookie, which, frustratingly, doesn’t come with an actual recipe to make our own. But maybe we can remedy that…

As a side note, we’re still approximately 6-10 years from reaching Mars without Takahashi’s planned iPhone intervention. [via GoodGameGet]

Continuing the ongoing supermadness at Namco’s official Noby Noby Boy website, o–o, the latest entry in their DIY Boy series (which charts the team’s progress at building real-world in-game objects) sees Takahashi & co. beating Anna The Red at her own culinary game and creating the above BOY sushi rolls.

The site unfortunately doesn’t give overt instructions beyond the second photo, opting instead to just convey their hunger. Check the official site for more close-up shots.

Though the PlayStation Network itself is frustratingly down for maintenance at the moment, leaving me unable to get a good sense of GIRL’s progress over the past few days, the 1.1 update for Keita Takahashi’s Noby Noby Boy mentioned yesterday is indeed live and accessible.

The most striking difference on starting the newly updated game is the musical one: on exiting your (newly coiffed) house, a new vocal track directly brings back those warm nostalgic Katamari feelings, but then (on further fiddling with controller options), you realize that you’ve got open access to 29 new music tracks, which I’ve highlighted below:

An eclectic mix to be sure, from the classical stylings of acoustic guitar to the primal melodies of the kalimba. But my current favorite? The cello, which at long last grants your wish to stretch and swallow anthropomorphic sharks to the soothing dulcet tones of Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 Prelude.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, yes, you can do this:

Now this is more like it: though the video included with Keita Takahashi’s last missive to the official PlayStation Blog didn’t show much of what to expect from the four-player addition to Noby Noby Boy, the latest official Namco video has that and much more.

The update, which according to the official site is set to go live April 28th, will bring a number of changes to the game, including new hairstyles for BOY’s house (!), new music (as promised), a new “thinking pose of the bird” (that detects your online status), and.. well, the aptly named “fart boy.” I’m presuming that’s what’s happening at 0:25-0:29ish of the video above.

This reconstructed image shows off all the new updates: ‘fart boy’ at lower left, house-hair in the middle, and a list of new instruments at lower-right, including congas, guitars, and marimbas.

The video accompanying Keita Takahashi’s latest official transmission to the PlayStation.Blog about the upcoming addition of offline multiplayer holds a tiny secret that seems to have gone over most collective heads.

True, for a video alleging to show how swallowing the split tail of another player’s Noby will create a new fused BOY — with one player controlling the first half and the other player the second — it comes up basically entirely short, what it does do is make BOY’s previously mentioned dream of new music come true, even if it does have a conspicuous lack of castinets.

It really honestly doesn’t get much better than this: Kotaku reader ‘Tonks’ sent in his custom pair of Noby Noby Boy sneakers which, naturally, feature a BOY made of a lace threaded entirely through the shoe.

The biggest surprise from Keita Takahashi’s GDC session on Noby Noby Boy? That the team involved has just started work last week on an iPhone version that he said could possibly be given away for free.

Here’s the problem: even though players managed to get Noby Noby GIRL to the moon in the game’s first week, at the current pace of her growth, she won’t connect the entire solar system for another 820 years (“I’ll be dead by then!” he lamented).

To try and bump up those odds to at least 400 years, the iPhone version will likely connect to the same system, letting the collective stretches of a new army of many mobile Noby BOYs bring their love to GIRL as well.

I’m currently uploading video of the reveal and will update this post (and later will write up the fantastic talk in its entirety) as soon as YouTube finishes processing.

As you can see from the video above, it’s obviously currently in a pre-pre-preproduction state that simply lets you stretch the BOY and bounce him off the other letters, but his interest in the platform is one of my happiest surprises of GDC.

In his latest missive to Sony’s official PlayStation blog, Noby Noby Boy creator Keita Takahashi confirms that local multiplayer is coming in a near-future update, but you’ve known that for a while now, and have even already seen it in action.

He adds, plaintively:

There have been many reviews/criticisms since Noby Noby Boy released. I totally understand as this is such a unique game and I expected those reactions. I don’t mean to make any excuses. That being said, I do get depressed from time to time as I want users to enjoy the game as much as possible. But at the same time, this is what I wanted to create…

It’s going to be quite a long journey to Mars. Please be patient. This is Takahashi.
