TIGSOURCE DEVLOG: THE VISUAL SHOWCASE OF AWESOME NEW GAMES, ISSUE #20
[Fridays on Venus Patrol are developer Andrea ‘Bandreus‘ Portale’s day to present TIGSource DevLog Magazine, a visual guide to the newest & most interesting in-development games making the rounds on the invaluable TIGSource forums. Looking for inspiration, or just the very first look at the amazing games we’ll be talking about in the future? Click any image to learn more, and come back on Fridays for the latest picks!]
With the amount of projects being discussed weekly on TIGSource and only limited space at my disposal, it often happens that a number of genuinely interesting devlogs don’t get a spot in this magazine, including games which have been previously been featured well over a year ago but are still in active development! To help at least partially remedy that, this week we’re bringing back a few of those: Somewhere, Elliot Quest, Master Spy and Son of Nor.
But also especially noteworthy is NAVE. The folks at Video Gamo have been touring every corner of Argentina with their awesome custom-built cabinet for the past year, and are now looking into crossing the border with the cabinet. The plan is to possibly bring it to next year’s GDC, though they can’t make it without other people’s help. Here’s wishing them the best!
Be sure to check back next Friday for more: with PAX East just around the corner, we’ll be using the opportunity to showcase some of the games that’ll be showing up in Boston next weekend!
See more posts about: Elliot Quest, Infinitesimals, Master Spy, MicRogue, Nave, Samudai, Shapist, Somewhere, Son of Nor, Spiderling, Super Mutant Alien Assault, The Hit, The Town of Light, TIGSource DevLog, Tiny Wizard, UFHO2, Uncanny Valley

In this issue, there’s a new simulation RPG called Avant-Garde about life as a painter in Paris. You read that right! Speaking of art, we get concept illustrations for Soulstrand and Burden, plus some nice fan art for The Walled Garden, and other artists showing off their shiny new art in Alienoid Core, Ritus and Aeon.

TIGSOURCE DEVLOG: DOM2D’S VISUAL SHOWCASE OF AWESOME NEW GAMES, ISSUE #1
Since 2005, TIGSource has hosted the largest forum dedicated to independent game development. Its devlog section, in particular — where developers show their work-in-progress and get feedback from the community — has proven to be a goldmine for amazing design, gorgeous art and constructive criticism. As a game designer and an artist myself, I find these quite inspiring and feel these projects deserve more attention.
Every week on Venus Patrol, using screenshots posted to the TIGSource threads, I’ll be building a visual map of the most inspiring projects of the past several days. Soon, this series will be a nice timeline of awesome games evolving from start to finish, and hopefully sharing them here will help get these games the exposure they deserve.
Click either the screenshot or the description on the map below to visit the forum thread for that game, and leave comments and cheers to the hard-working developers while you’re there!
